About Verity

Hi, I’m Verity — a counsellor and therapist based in Kelowna, BC.

I work with teens, adults, and sometimes preteens—especially those navigating anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, autism, gender identity, or just the complexity of being human.

My practice is grounded in trust, curiosity, and deep respect for every person I work with. Whether you're coming to therapy for support with mental health, identity, relationships, or simply need someone to talk to, this is a safe, affirming space. I meet you where you are, and together we’ll figure out what healing and growth look like for you.

A Bit About My Background

I was born and raised in the UK, where I began my career as a secondary school teacher of English and Drama. After moving to Canada over a decade ago, I started working with neurodiverse children and teens—facilitating social groups, tutoring, and gradually transitioning into therapeutic work. I hold a Master’s in Social Work with a clinical focus, and I’ve been practicing as a counsellor ever since. For the past three years, I’ve run my own private counselling practice here in Kelowna.

I’ve supported many teens and adults through everything from school and work stress to breakups, grief, anxiety, OCD, and identity exploration. I'm known for being easy to talk to, honest, compassionate, and a little bit funny when the moment calls for it.

A Neurodiversity- and LGBTQ+-Affirming Approach

I work with a wide range of people navigating anxiety, depression, identity questions, trauma, life transitions, and relationship challenges. Alongside this, I have developed particular experience supporting neurodiverse clients—including those with autism and ADHD—as well as individuals who are transgender, non-binary, or exploring gender identity. These relationships continue to shape how I show up in my work, deepening my commitment to creating a space where every part of you is welcomed and valued.

Therapy should be shaped around how your mind works—not the other way around. I work collaboratively, drawing from evidence-based modalities like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Mindfulness. Sessions are tailored to your strengths, your story, and your goals.

Cultural Safety and Ongoing Learning

I live, work, and offer counselling on the traditional, unceded territory of the Syilx (Okanagan) Peoples. I am honoured to work with Indigenous clients and meet the criteria set by the First Nations Health Authority to provide counselling services and direct billing. As part of this, I have completed San'yas Indigenous Cultural Safety Training, and I continue to engage in learning that supports culturally safe and inclusive care.

My commitment to learning is woven through all aspects of my work. I'm currently completing further specialization in neurodiversity and OCD, and plan to pursue advanced training in mindfulness-based approaches. My earlier academic background in English Literature taught me the power of language—and how therapy, like literature, helps us make sense of identity, relationships, and experience.

I regularly seek out new research and perspectives to deepen my understanding of the concerns and communities I work with. My growth as a therapist is shaped by formal training, lived experience, and by every client I meet. I bring care, insight, curiosity, and flexibility to each session—and continue evolving in response to the people I support.
